To Understand a Tree: Form Study
black cherry wood and bark
approx 5" diameter x 12" height
This geometric form study playfully turns the tree inside out, placing the bark on the interior and the heartwood on the exterior. Made from a roadside black cherry tree salvaged in western New York (where I was born), and from bark harvested from the same species in western Massachusetts (where I now live). This piece was sold as part of the Center for Art in Wood's Bandsaw Box fundraiser in 2020.
