The phrase "All Hours, Eternal Morning" is from a quote from Thoreau's journal describing the song of the wood thrush: "it changes all hours to an eternal morning." Morning is an important metaphor in "Walden," representing Thoreau's highest ideals for the possibilities of human potential, and his focus on sound in nature is of particular significance to me.
